January 1, 2009 marked the fiftieth anniversary of the Cuban revolution. Many both on the island and across the world are wondering what the future holds for Cuba. The Choices Program is offering an afternoon seminar focusing on Contemporary Cuba. Participants will consider the historical forces that have shaped this island nation and explore the challenges and choices that lie ahead.

Scholar Presentation: Adrián López Denis

Adrian Lopez DenisParticipating teachers will hear from Adrián López Denis, Postdoctoral Fellow in International Humanities at the Cogut Center, Brown University. Adrián's research interest is “Public Health and Popular Healing in Colonial Cuba.” He has recently returned from Cuba where he was leading a semester study program for Brown University students. He will be speaking about his recent experience in Cuba.
