Edenise Garcia, a 2008 Watson International Scholar of the Environment, is the Brazilian REDD pilot coordinator for the Nature Conservancy, based in the Amazon region. Previously, Dr. Garcia was senior environmental scientist at Jacques Whitford Axys Ltd. She holds a PhD in ecotoxicology and an MSc in environmental science from the University of Montreal, and BSc degrees in biological sciences and social communication from the University of São Paulo.
