Godfrey Kimaro, a 2007 Watson International Scholar of the Environment , is an assistant lecturer of Botany at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. He has been involved in extensive research of the Marine environment in Tanzania. As a part of this research, he studied the influence of sewage pollution at Mbweni beach. He was involved in research on remote sensing and quantitative techniques in geography where he was exposed to various aspects of coastal conservation and Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM). He has also done research on the Pangani River Basin, which is shared by both Kenya and Tanzania.
