Daniel Orenstein was a PhD student at the Center for Environmental Studies at Brown University. He completed his BSc in environmental biology at the University of California, Davis and his MSc in ecology at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. He was a lecturer for six years at the Rothberg International School at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, teaching environmental studies in the Israeli context. He was also a faculty member at the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, Israel, teaching an interdisciplinary seminar on environmental sustainability in deserts and a course on population and environment in Israel, Palestine, and Jordan. His current research focuses on land use/land cover change in Israel, exploring demographic, economic and policy drivers of change, and the ecological/environmental implications.
