Lesson PLans Developed by Teachers at the Nebraska Summer Insitute

In early June, 2004, teachers in Omaha, Nebraska attended a 5-day conference on the Cuban missile crisis. They heard from professors at the University of Nebraska as well as from Brown University. They explored new research about the Cuban missile crisis, visited the Strategic Air Command Center in Omaha, and viewed films.

As part of their experience teachers developed lesson plans for multiple grade levels using the Millard School District's differentiation system. These diverse plans follow a specific format in which teachers list the objectives, procedure, and standards met. Lessons include student handouts and websites for further exploration. Lesson plans are available in Word or pdf format at http://www.novia.net/~mheys/choices/. Other teachers are free to download and use these plans as they wish.

Please note these plans were developed by individual teachers and do not represent work by the Choices Program.
