The Choices Program and the Teaching Hard History Project recently collaborated to align six Choices Program U.S. History units to the popular Teaching Hard History: American Slavery Framework. Join us as we:
PROVIDE an overview of the Teaching Hard History: American Slavery Framework, which guides educators in teaching about the critical topic of slavery and its legacies.
PRESENT a summary of the Choices Program alignment with the Teaching Hard History: American Slavery Framework.
DISCUSS ways educators can use Choices Program curriculum to teach about slavery and its legacies in a responsible and just manner.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

This is a free webinar. Participants will be provided with three U.S. history lessons, one each from Racial Slavery in the Americas: Resistance, Freedom, and Legacies; We the People: A New Nation; and The Civil War and the Meaning of Liberty.

Kate Shuster, director of the Teaching Hard History Project, will co-present this webinar.

Anyone who is interested in learning how selected early U.S. history curriculum units from the Choices Program align with the Teaching Hard History American Slavery Framework is welcome to attend.

Mimi is the Director of Professional Development for the Choices Program. Prior to joining the Choices Program in 2011, Mimi worked at Clark University where she served as the Director of the Teacher Center for Global Studies supporting K12 social studies teachers throughout Massachusetts for more than 20 years. Mimi holds a Masters in International Development and Social Change from Clark University.
