Joe Leidy is a Ph.D. candidate in modern Middle Eastern history at Brown University and a teaching fellow in Global Islamic Studies at Connecticut College. His dissertation traces the history of youth as a political category in the nineteenth- and twentieth-century Eastern Mediterranean.
