Confronting Genocide: Never Again?

Join the Choices Program at the Long Island Council for the Social Studies annual conference to explore the readings, lessons, and videos of the Choices Program’s recently revised curriculum on Confronting Genocide: Never Again? Updates to the unit include the addition of the OvaHerero-Nama genocide in Namibia, a new Atrocity Risk and Prevention framework, several short videos, and four new lessons. Themes covered in the unit include historical memory, creating a virtual museum of repatriated objects, and more. 

The time for this session will be announced closer to the time of the conference.

OvaHerero women who are members of a fraternity called Otjiserandu that honors their ancestors line up where their signature uniforms that include a floor-length red skirt, black jacket, and unique red hats made to resemble cow horns.

Choices Director of Sales and Professional Development
Mimi is the Director of Professional Development for the Choices Program. Prior to joining the Choices Program in 2011, Mimi worked at Clark University where she served as the Director of the Teacher Center for Global Studies supporting K12 social studies teachers throughout Massachusetts for more than 20 years. Mimi holds a Masters in International Development and Social Change from Clark University.
